Role Summary and Impact
The Data & Business Intelligence team builds and maintains the infrastructure needed for our agency and clients to answer questions with data. We deploy standardised and customised reporting solutions across the agency’s client bases, using best practices in data modelling, management and storage to automate the collection of data from client advertising campaigns in Google BigQuery. You will pull data from a wide variety of marketing platforms, transform, query and validate that data, and help build and optimise data pipelines in an agile team. You will collaborate with the campaign planning and activation teams across Paid Social, Paid Search and Programmatic display to develop data solutions for complex data use cases, such as data manipulation and forecasting. Our goal is to give clients and internal stakeholders a fresh, accurate and granular perspective on campaign performance and to lay the groundwork for AI-powered advancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a team of BI Engineers to set up, maintain and document ETL processes to provide data pipelines and infrastructure for clients.
- Learn from and work with the incumbent BI Engineer and own the setup and running of data projects.
- Develop opinions on how best to utilise cloud computing technologies (e.g., Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery, Microsoft Azure, AWS) for data projects.
- Model data from raw extracts taken from marketing platforms into usable data sets for analysis and visualisation.
- Collaborate with a data visualisation specialist to define how data should be manipulated for client dashboards.
- Assist in developing case studies to highlight the work of the team.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in a reporting, business intelligence or data engineering role.
- Experience extracting data from digital marketing platforms including Google Analytics, Campaign Manager and Facebook Ads Manager.
- Hands-on experience with data engineering concepts such as data transformations, cleaning and structuring datasets, or creating data models to support analysis.
- Some experience using SQL, GoogleSQL or Python and a desire to improve skills.
- Interest in cloud computing technologies (Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Microsoft Azure, AWS Athena).
- Experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio) is welcome but not essential.
- Educational background is welcome; experience with data as part of studies is acceptable.
- Experience using technology to collect or transform data and the ability to discuss problems solved and challenges faced.
- Motivation to take on new challenges and learn new things, and an understanding of the digital advertising landscape.
