Overview

Business Support Officer - Education Business Support Team role at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council/WMJobs. This is a part‑time role (29 hours per week across 5 days), term time only (42 weeks per year). The post is based at Solihull Council House with potential homeworking two days per week once the pattern is agreed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, customer-focused administrative support for the Education Partnerships and other internal teams working with schools and agencies.
  • Organise meetings and training sessions, take minutes at meetings attended by senior officers and professionals.
  • Maintain databases, process financial transactions, and assist with queries from school staff and governors.
  • Prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines in a demanding environment and handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Contribute to a resilient EBST service by supporting colleagues across the team as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSE Maths and English or NVQ3 in business administration (or equivalent) or demonstrated experience enabling the full range of duties.
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused office environment.
  • Clear and confident communication with people at all levels.
  • Experience supporting and minuting complex meetings.
  • Ability to prioritise work to meet multiple deadlines.

Additional Information

This role is part‑time, term‑time with an additional 4 weeks across the year (salary pro rata to 42 weeks).
