Responsibilities

  • Engage with business representatives to define and document product build requirements, review and analyse system specifications
  • Collaborate with BSA/BSM to develop effective strategies and test plans. Attends and contributes to product design workshops
  • Implement test cases (manual or automated) and analyse results
  • Evaluate product code according to specifications
  • Create test logs/scripts to document testing phases and defects
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams
  • First line of operational support to solve issues
  • Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing
  • Supports ongoing system enhancements, working very closely with their peers and IT colleagues, throughout the change lifecycle from initiation through to testing and implementation
  • Provides input into project documentation including; product specifications, product matrix, risk and issues logs, change logs and status reporting
  • Testing the infrastructure components and application testing

Qualifications

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or have proven analytical work experience
  • Insurance knowledge/experience
  • Strong numeracy and organisational skills including good time management, prioritising tasks, estimating activities and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to multi-task and work independently or in a team
  • Ability to document and solve errors
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Analytical mind and problem-solving skills

The Business System Administrator role is based within the Markel Direct Change Team who are situated across both our Manchester & Leeds offices. The role is a key component of the Operations & Change team which supports strategic projects within the change roadmap, initiating, implementing change and process simplification and improvements, working with multi-functional teams across the Direct division and the wider business and with third party system providers.
