Business Systems Application Engineer (Manchester)

As a Business Systems Applications Engineer, you will provide technical support for our portfolio of applications and play a fundamental part in our adoption of cloud technologies.

The Business Systems Solutions (BSS) department leverages innovative technologies to deliver bespoke and third-party solutions that enhance operational efficiency, scalability and sustainability across the Business.

You will play a key role in supporting these tools and their users, performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting issues through to resolution. You will work collaboratively with Business users, internal teams and external vendors to ensure the best support and solutions are delivered to the Business.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Experience with SaaS solutions and working with vendors and cloud based technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose, evaluate and resolve complex problem situations.
• Experience of implementing, supporting, and upgrading Business systems and applications, whilst understanding their architecture.
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities, work independently, multitask, and meet tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
• Stakeholder management, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders from different disciplines.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to use initiative and prioritise proactively.
• Experienced in providing first class support for a range of new technologies, systems, and solutions.

Main Responsibilities

• Acting as the first point of contact for our internal teams with system related issues, and assisting with the support, maintenance, and deployment of these systems.
• Being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a given toolset, recommending features and functions to the internal team and Business.
• Taking responsibility for a wide range of tools and applications including on premise, SaaS, and cloud based solutions.
• Managing, investigating, and solving individual cases to ensure satisfactory outcomes for our customers.
• Liaising with other departments to ensure timely resolution of cases, ensuring that our customers and stakeholders are kept informed of progress.
• Managing 3rd party suppliers to SLAs and forming excellent working relationships to leverage the best service.
• Providing an on-call capability as part of a rota, to support key applications out of hours.
• Overseeing testing and deployment of software or application patches and upgrades to ensure compliance, security and support levels are maintained.
• Ensuring availability of our systems through monitoring and reporting for both on premise and cloud hosted solutions.
• Working collaboratively with Business users, internal teams, and external vendors to provide the best possible solution.
