Overview

This role helps coordinate and drive activity and efforts of the Business Systems Team to deliver software solutions. The Business Systems Solutions (BSS) department leverages innovative technologies to deliver bespoke and third-party solutions that enhance operational efficiency, scalability and sustainability across the Business.

Core skills within the team include an AI-first approach with Roo Code, .Net, REACT, Python, Typescript and GCP. The tech stack also includes SQL, Web API and CSS 3.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Responsibilities

  • Guiding the team, managing workloads through various disciplines, and making key technical contributions to deliver high-quality applications.
  • Responding rapidly to the needs of the business and actively contributing to the day-to-day design, development, and operation of the team\'s services.
  • Ensuring timely provision of agreed deliverables throughout the SDLC by understanding both business and technical requirements.
  • Developing proof of concepts and prototypes to explore new technologies and approaches.
  • Participating in the full SDLC, including coding, code reviews, and testing to ensure deliverable quality.
  • Tracking and reporting progress to effectively schedule and plan resources according to business needs.
  • Mitigating risk, sharing knowledge, and resolving blockers.
  • Collaborating with other teams within the Business as required.
  • Understanding and implementing governance of best practices.
  • Mentoring the team to encourage and support continuous improvement.
  • Leading team meetings, conducting one-to-one sessions, providing feedback for appraisals, and liaising with third parties where required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven and current hands-on software development experience, with a willingness to actively contribute to the codebase.
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to motivate a team.
  • Passionate about delivering technical solutions, tools and applications.
  • Self-motivation with a strong drive to succeed.
  • Ability to handle large workloads with rapid context switching while remaining calm in pressured environments and situations.
  • Experience with work stack planning, prioritisation and resource management.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with high availability, multiuser, n-tier and distributed applications.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices, good architecture and the full SDLC.
  • Well organized and skilled in effective time management, conflict resolution, and task allocation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in technical and non-technical subjects.
