Hours & Salary

Hours: 37.5 (9.00am - 5.30pm), Salary: Competitive. Hybrid working patterns available depending on role responsibilities: 2 days from home and 3 days in our stylish, modern and collaborative office close to East Croydon Station.

Role Description

The Buyer will be working within the Fragrance team, seeking to maximise sales and profit for the category whilst working with market‑leading luxury beauty brands to jointly develop launch plans and promotional strategy. As a Buyer you will be accountable for your own supplier relationships, have a strong understanding of the market and the ability to work cross‑functionally with various teams such as Marketing, merchandising, supply chain, insights, finance and stores. Strong commercial acumen, and superb Excel skills are key to this role, as well as the ability to work independently, efficiently and with initiative.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a buyer in a retail environment (Grocer, Fragrance, Healthcare).
• Strong analytical skills.
• Very strong commercial awareness and creative skills.
• Proven negotiation skills.
• Decisive and able to work in a super fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication, analytical and organisational skills.
• Display delegation skills, prioritise within delegated tasks and manage deadlines.
• Practice excellent time‑management skills and ability to cope under pressure.

Bonus Scheme

Pay Review

We look at pay every year and any increases take effect from 1st January.

Private Medical Insurance

You have the option to opt into our Private Medical Insurance scheme. We will pay for your individual cover. You can also add parent and children to this at your own cost.

Holiday

You’ll get 25 days holiday to use when you like, plus 8 UK bank holidays (pro‑rated if you work part time). We’ll also increase your holiday the longer you stay, rising to 28 after 3 years, up to 30 after 5 years! You can also buy or sell some each year.

Stream App

Recruitment Process

3. If selected, you will be invited to a competency‑based interview with the line manager via teams.
4. If selected, you will have a face‑to‑face interview at our Head Office. Prepare a presentation on the category you're interviewing for; details will be provided beforehand.
5. Upon a successful application, you will receive a job offer and contract outlining the specifics of your role, salary, and benefits. Once accepted, we will initiate the onboarding process to collect all necessary details from you.
6. After completing the onboarding, your line manager will contact you to extend a welcome and address any questions you may have to ease first‑day nerves. You will then be provided with a comprehensive induction plan designed to ensure your success.
