Overview

Senior Resourcing Health & Safety Partner for the University of Bristol, supporting the Modern Network Project. The role is fixed funding until September 2026 and is essential to delivering a high-performance network for campus environments.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing and monitoring a proactive system for the identification of H&S risks, agreeing priorities for action with project managers including highlighting and reporting residual risks.
  • Identify and interpret legislation, regulations and national codes of practice, University Safety Policy, and ensure requirements/changes are incorporated into project work practices. Advise on implications of non-compliance and apply necessary changes.
  • Design and deliver UoB health and safety induction training material for contractors, covering a broad range of health and safety topics for management and operational staff.
  • Review risk assessments and method statements, aid in the application of permits to work.
  • Influence decisions of principal contractors and other stakeholders and work with internal project teams to mitigate risks.
  • Instigate or oversee incident investigations by contractors and analyze health and safety data.
  • Develop and implement KPIs and reporting mechanisms to demonstrate to University governance committees that the project complies with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement an internal audit system and schedule audits of contractor policies, risk assessments, safe systems of work, local procedures, safety plans, and training; assist in developing action plans for contractors.

You should apply if

  • Hold the NEBOSH Construction Cert / Diploma, or equivalent qualification plus experience in a similar role.
  • A good working knowledge of CDM 2015
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting data, drafting complex reports and delivering briefings
  • Proven people and change management skills to build a positive safety culture
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • Extensive understanding of Health & Safety legislation and regulations relevant to property/building contexts
  • Health and safety management experience in a large complex organisation (e.g., Higher Education, Facilities Management, IT or Telecoms)
