Job Summary

Maximising the profitability of specified product categories, improving customer satisfaction, and cash profit.

We are recruiting for a Category / Buying Manager in the Retail Grocery team, managing Crisps, Snacks & Nuts, based from either our Eccles, Wellingborough, or Watford offices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category plans to meet sales, margin, and profit targets while maintaining product availability.
• Grow own brand business through sourcing and supplier negotiations.
• Negotiate annually with suppliers for competitive terms.
• Respond to customer feedback to shape category plans and improve satisfaction.
• Handle customer queries professionally and promptly.
• Communicate category plans effectively to ensure understanding and buy-in.
• Ensure product displays reflect good, better, best principles.
• Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities and improve processes.
• Adhere to the Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity and promoting diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

• Operational skills relevant to the role.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and make commercial decisions.
• Attention to detail, report writing, data interpretation, and record keeping skills.
• Knowledge of relevant markets and trends.
• Flexible working approach.

Experience

• Previous buying experience desired.
• Extensive experience in FMG preferred.
• Proven ability to work autonomously.
• Experience in developing and managing marketing campaigns.
