Department Description
Allica serves ≈ half a million established SMEs with 5 to 100 employees, a crucial pillar of the UK’s prosperity. Since early 2021, Allica Bank has been building its direct SME relationship proposition to reimagine local relationship banking for established SMEs.
Role Description
Supporting a portfolio of centrally managed customers, ensuring they are well served with strong customer satisfaction, credit risk management, and portfolio growth through business development activities in partnership with Allica’s marketing team.
Principal Accountabilities
- Relationship managing a centralised portfolio of local SMEs, providing secured SME lending (commercial mortgages, asset finance, current accounts, savings) and expanding offerings over time.
- Proactive client engagement and forward‑looking conversations to unlock opportunities.
- Credit risk monitoring, spotting early warning signs and fulfilling additional credit requests.
- Originating SME lending opportunities from enquiry to completion, including writing credit papers in line with Allica’s credit policy.
- Delivering portfolio business plans, managing objectives, personal development and horizon risk scanning.
- Working with customers, colleagues and advisors to structure new lending proposals and write credit applications.
- Representing Allica with excellent service and building deep, multi‑layered relationships.
- Collaborating closely with all Allica areas to ensure seamless, professional service.
Personal Attributes & Experience
- Deep passion for serving SMEs.
- Self‑starter, organised and committed to succeeding in a flexible environment.
- High‑capability relationship manager with a track record of building trust‑based, long‑lasting referral relationships and generating new business.
- Good credit skills, analysing and reviewing financial accounts.
- Strong understanding of SME banking, especially commercial mortgages.
- Exemplary customer service record and ability to maximise value with prospects and customers.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and evidence of strong career progression.
- Proven track record in providing excellent customer service, generating new income opportunities while managing credit risk.
