OverviewInterim Chief Accountant – East Midlands (Contract). Hybrid: 2 days per week in office. Pay Rate: DOE. Start Date: September/October.One of my local Government clients based in the East Midlands is seeking a Chief Accountant to join their team on an interim basis.Chief AccountantPay Rate: DOEDays: X5 p/wStart Date: September/OctoberHybrid: X2 days p/w in officeResponsibilities Lead year-end closing activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS/local GAAP. Coordinate external audits, acting as the primary liaison with auditors and ensuring all documentation is prepared and compliant. Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and ensure timely submission of regulatory filings. Support the annual budgeting process, including consolidation, variance analysis, and presentation to senior leadership. Manage interim and year-end tax reporting, including deferred tax calculations and liaising with tax advisors. Ensure robust internal controls are in place and functioning effectively during the financial year-end. Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making during planning and forecasting cycles. Mentor and support the finance team through peak workload periods, ensuring continuity and knowledge transfer.
