Overview
You’ll join Bain’s Private Equity Group (PEG), collaborating across product, data, and engineering teams to define how Bain manages and leverages its data. This role is central to building Bain’s enterprise data strategy and enabling advanced analytics and AI/ML capabilities that drive impact at scale. As Chief Data Architect, you will lead Bain’s enterprise data architecture, ensuring our data is well-structured, governed, and powering analytics and AI initiatives. You’ll set the firm’s data vision and partner with senior stakeholders to turn strategy into reality.
What you’ll do
- Define Bain’s enterprise data strategy, governance, and platform vision.
- Lead the build-out of cloud-native data ecosystems (lakehouse, data mesh, streaming).
- Ensure data quality, compliance, and security across global operations.
- Enable advanced analytics and AI/ML integration through scalable data platforms.
- Communicate the data strategy clearly to executives and cross-functional teams.
About you
Must-Have:
- 10+ years in data engineering or data architecture leadership.
- Deep expertise in data governance, modeling, and quality frameworks.
- Proven track record building and scaling cloud-native data platforms.
- Experience enabling analytics and AI/ML (MLOps, feature stores, pipelines).
- Strong ability to influence C-level stakeholders with clear communication.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience in high-growth tech or PE-backed companies.
- Familiarity with building data products that support client-facing platforms.
- Thought leadership in data strategy/architecture communities.

U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best-in-class benefits package (details listed below).
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
In New York City, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between US$220,000 – US$276,000. Placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training, and skill level.
- Annual discretionary performance bonus
- This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
- 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
