Location:hybrid, based at St Mary’s and Hammersmith hospital campuses, with travel to other campuses as required.
About the role:
The Fleming Initiative is an exciting new partnership between Imperial College London and Imperial College NHS Trust, working with a number of charity, industry and philanthropic funders to protect global populations from the threat of antimicrobial resistance by combining research, behaviour change, public engagement, and policy.
The Initiative is looking for a highly experienced individual with outstanding financial and business management skills and a proven track-record of leading operations within the Higher Education, Life Sciences or Healthcare Sector.
What you would be doing:
You will be working alongside the Initiative’s Director, Professor Alison Holmes and the Executive Chair the Lord Ara Darzi, to deliver all aspects of this ambitious programme. This will include; overseeing the delivery of the purpose-built Centre which is due to open at the historic St Mary’s Hospital Campus in 2028, operationalising a programme of interdisciplinary AMR research, establishing a culture and mechanisms for public engagement and convening and securing and managing further financial resources necessary to meet the Initiative’s current and future needs.
The Initiative’s vision is to catalyse a global movement to tackle AMR, including the establishment of Global Fleming Centres across the world. Beyond the domestic remit therefore, you will also be required to identify strategically appropriate global sites and funding opportunities to support them, establishing appropriate working models with the Fleming Centre London.
What we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have substantial and extensive senior level experience in an appropriate sector; including HEI, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical Industry or Financial operations.
You must have a track record and experience of delivering measurable results and KPIs including in financial planning and the managing/controlling of significant budgets and resources and all-round programme and project management skills with experience of managing a variety of diverse projects.
Robust and practical experience of raising and managing funding of similar scale and scope from a range of sources including industry, philanthropy and government is essential as are outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to rapidly establish credibility and build relationships.
