Civil Design Engineers x5 - Principal & Lead (UK) | Jacobs, Birmingham, England, United Kingdom

With major 2026 growth plans, Jacobs’ UK Water team has new roles for Civil Engineering professionals. You will work across national client frameworks, delivering activities from strategic planning and catchment management to feasibility studies, outline and detailed design, and construction and operational support. You will contribute to end-to-end services alongside our construction partners within United Utilities’ AMP8 framework and across Strategic Resource Options such as the Fens and Lincolnshire SRO reservoirs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver detailed design solutions alongside discipline integration for clean water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects
  • Support design-and-build delivery across multiple frameworks
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical excellence and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct site inspections and assessments to verify compliance with design specifications and quality standards
  • Mentor and support colleagues through their professional development
  • Drive innovation and sustainability in water sector engineering

What you’ll need

  • Civil engineer with knowledge and experience in detailed design and design-and-build execution for water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects
  • Ability to deliver civil engineering inputs to multidisciplinary projects, at specific design stages or across full project lifecycles
  • Experience in the water, wastewater engineering, and effluent treatment sectors
  • Working towards, or hold Chartered / Incorporated Engineer status with a professional body such as ICE or CIWEM
  • Curious about emerging technologies with a strong interest in sustainability
