Claims Team Leader, Belfast

AXA are recruiting for a Claims Team Leader in our Personal Injury and Credit Hire team.

As a Claims Team Leader, you will report directly to the Personal Injury Operations Manager and take on the responsibility of leading, managing, and motivating a team of claims handlers. Your primary goal will be to ensure the delivery of a quality service to customers through efficient and effective claim investigation, negotiation, and settlement.

You'll work majority of your week away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our head office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of personal injury and credit hire handlers, overseeing end-to-end claims handling, performance management, and process improvement.
  • Identify, utilise and promote best practice processes and standards for incident and case management, negotiation and settlement, fraud detection and QA management
  • Control claims costs by managing resources effectively (Claims team, Third Party Service providers, System & technical resources), ensuring team competencies are sufficient to meet team objectives
  • Understand and deal with the key internal and external factors driving the cost of claims (Estimate consistency, Calibration, Leakage, Fraud, Inflation, Regulation/Legislation, other internal and external influences)
  • Deliver excellent customer service
  • Deal effectively with referrals, escalations and complaints
  • Implement an effective Quality Assurance program to validate the quality of claims handling to deliver consistent claim estimating.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5 or more years’ experience within the Claims Insurance industry experience with strong knowledge of UW principles, technical claims process and procedures and best practice case management (Essential).
  • Certificate in Insurance and 5 GCSE’s ( including Maths and English – Grade C and above) (Essential)
  • Personal Injury and Credit Hire experience in the Northern Ireland market is advantageous, with strong stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, and risk management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with effective coaching skills to motivate a customer focused team in delivery.
  • Ability to manage change effectively in a highly pressurised environment.
  • Negotiation, influencing, judgement and decision-making.
  • Problem solving and issue resolution within team performance management.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
