Client Development Manager – Private Client at Charles Russell Speechlys – Join to apply for this role and contribute to the formulation and execution of BD & Marketing plans and campaigns for the Private Client division and relevant business groups. The role involves working closely with and supporting the Senior Client Development Manager, partnering with partners and fee earners across offices to progress agreed actions, track progress and ROI, with a particular focus on the division’s intermediary strategy.

The Client Development team supporting the Private Client Division includes a Senior Client Development Manager, two Client Development Managers and a Client Development Co-ordinator. The team collaborates with the wider CD, Marketing & Communications teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day management, recording and reporting on the Private Client (PC) division intermediary relationships, including keeping relationship materials and key documents up to date and sharing information to encourage collaboration within the PC division.
  • Support the SCDM in implementing the PC division strategic business plan by leading on some main objectives.
  • Assist the SCDM in developing, reviewing and updating business planning and budgeting materials; participate in meetings, produce notes, amend documents and follow up on action points.
  • Track major case successes, new clients and instructions; report to teams at regular meetings and share updates via appropriate communications channels in the PC division.
  • Support the SCDM on targeting (pipeline) processes and lead on relationship initiatives (e.g., PC key intermediary relationships and PC key clients).
  • Support the development of InterAction (CRM) and champion its use within the firm; update intermediary mailing lists.
  • Participate in the pitching process for the PC division, from pre-pitch discussions to document production and advice, including RFPs, credentials, statements of experience, testimonials, research, and bios; be prepared to lead pitch meetings and meet tight deadlines with limited guidance.
  • Produce, distribute, analyze and report on digital newsletters, legal updates and other direct mailings, in collaboration with the CRM team.
  • Create and maintain internet/intranet content for relevant business groups/service lines.
  • Coordinate with the CDM on legal directories and award submissions; work with the Digital Executive and Events team to plan and evaluate events (seminars, webinars, podcasts, workshops, receptions, client hospitality).
  • Develop, populate, collate and report on key information for sectors/services (rankings, quotes, testimonials, cases, content), stored in repositories (e.g., PitchPoint) for proposals and collateral.
  • Undertake ad hoc market research relevant to private client BD initiatives.
  • Support firm-wide key project work and other BD deliverables for senior management as required.

Skills and Experience

  • A proven track record of delivering results and meeting targets to strict deadlines.
  • Organisational ability under pressure.
  • Experience in a legal environment is crucial.
  • Motivated, responsive, quick learner who can hit the ground running.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Team-player with the ability to engage colleagues at all levels.
  • Adaptable and responsive to short notice requirements.
  • IT savvy with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • CRM systems knowledge (preferably InterAction) and PowerBI (preferred but not essential).

Hybrid working – We adopt a hybrid and flexible approach, dependent on role requirements and subject to manager approval.
