Join to apply for the Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP) role at Phoenix MCT.

This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county, including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.

We are looking for qualified Clinical Associate Psychologists to join the mid-area iCMHTs.

Applicants should be self-motivated, ideally have prior experience working in acute mental health services, and have completed the MSc course in Clinical Associate Psychology to be considered for this post.

Successful candidates will be eligible to apply for graduate membership of The British Psychological Society (BPS).

A Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) is a member of the Psychology Department working as a semi-autonomous practitioner within an agreed scope of practice in an identified clinical team, under the supervision of an HCPC registered, qualified Practitioner Psychologist.

CAPs work as scientist practitioners, using psychological knowledge, research, and theory to reduce psychological distress and enhance wellbeing. Their interventions are informed by, but not solely determined by, problem-specific treatment protocols, which are adapted using the evidence base, service research, and evaluation, in collaboration with their clinical supervisor.

CAPs provide specialist mental health services for patients/service users of their team, and collaborate across service boundaries to offer consultation, supervision, training, and service development to the wider Trust. They support teams through research at Masters level, service evaluation, and dissemination of outcome measures.

We are an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, delivering community and hospital-based care to improve physical and mental health, including support for dementia and learning disabilities.

We are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of the local community, with over 4,000 staff including doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff working across homes, clinics, bases, and hospitals.

Our area has approximately 568,000 residents, with many visitors during holidays, which increases service demand. We work closely with partners in Devon to meet community needs.
