An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced psychologists and social workers who are keen to support children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviour, to join our Healthy Safe Behaviours team (HSB). We are keen to invite those with a clinical or forensic psychology qualification and senior social workers to join our developing team.

The HSB team sits alongside the Therapeutic Emotional Support Service (TESS) delivering consultation, assessment, intervention and support to children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour between the ages of 7-17 years.

The HSB team adopts a relational and systemic approach and delivers bespoke and tailored interventions and programmes of education and support to children, young people and their parents and caregivers, regarding harmful sexualised behaviours. The team has recently gone through a period of transition and review to ensure we continue to align with best practice and evidence-based approaches to service delivery, making this an exciting time to join our team.

The HSB team works collaboratively with our partner agencies forming close working arrangements with the wider Birmingham Children’s Trust Early Help support network, Child in Needs teams, Safeguarding and Children in Care services, Birmingham Youth Justice Service, Police, and our local CAMHS service known as Forward Thinking Birmingham.

The team is currently comprised of a Team Manager and two Aim 3 Practitioners. We are looking to recruit 4 additional team members from a social work and applied practitioner psychology background, who can demonstrate their experience and skills in understanding vulnerable children, young people and their families and supporting them to respond to and manage risk of harmful sexualised behaviour and to make positive changes towards healthy, safe behaviour.

1 short-term 12-month contract post will have a focus on support to our Early Help network offering consultation, advice, and guidance to Early Help colleagues, including support to children, young people and their families. This post will be subject to a continued review.

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate an interest in evidence-based practice and research and who are keen to develop their knowledge and skills within this specialism.
