(Band 7 Preceptorship applications welcome) We have a vacancy for an experienced Clinical Psychologist (Band 8a) who is passionate about working with children, young people and families. The CAIST (Crisis, Assessment & Intensive Support Team) service is a vibrant and dynamic service with 3 teams based across Norfolk & Waveney, operating 7 days a week from 08:00 to 20:00. The team offers community based intensive support to children, young people & their families, aiming to establish trusting therapeutic relationships and reduce risk when distress is high. Base locations are in East, Central & West Norfolk; the role is peripatetic and may require travel to different sites; independent travel is essential.
We need the diverse skills of a Clinical Psychologist to support our formulation based approach to care. We would also consider applications for a Band 7 preceptorship post (see alternative job description attached for essential criteria).
Responsibilities
- Offer direct clinical work with children under 18 who present in crisis, including crisis/psychological assessment, formulation, and individual interventions, with families and carers where appropriate.
- Provide supervision to the multidisciplinary team (including Assistant Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists); apply psychological models and formulation to the needs of the young people accessing the service.
- Engage in consultation and formulation with other relevant services; deliver training to the team and participate in relevant research projects.
- As a senior clinician within the team, contribute to ongoing development of the service and focus on clinical data and performance to ensure quality and consistency of care across CAIST.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Clinical Psychologist with experience in crisis-focused work and a formulation-based approach; Band 8a level preferred, with Band 7 preceptorship considered as alternative
- Ability to travel between bases across Norfolk & Waveney; peripatetic role
- Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and providing training and supervision to junior staff
- Active involvement in service development and quality improvement initiatives
