Weare looking for an enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist orCognitive Behavioural Therapist to work in the Adult Community Eating DisorderService based in Exeter but covering the Devon footprint. The team is anestablished multidisciplinary team providing a service to clients with severeand complex eating disorders and their families and carers. This is an exciting opportunity for someonewith an interest in eating disorders to specialise and develop their skills andexperience in the field.

Thepost holder would be expected to hold a caseload of clients referred to theservice, delivering assessments and therapeutic interventions. The post holder would also provideconsultation and training to other teams and services as required. Being part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team,you will need to be a good communicator and enjoy working as part of an MDT. Althoughthe team base is Exeter, you will need to be prepared to travel to other partsof Devon to see clients and be flexible to meet the demands of the job.

A central aspect of the role is providing evidence based psychological interventions so experience in this area is highlydesirable. There may also be opportunities for further specialist training bothwithin the team and via external training providers and to be involved inquality improvement projects and service evaluations or audits.

Main duties of the job

The principal purpose ofthe job is to improve the psychological health & wellbeing of people with moderate- severe eating disorders.

This will be achieved by providing assessment and evidenced based psychologicaltherapy service to people referred to the service and contributing to multidisciplinaryteam discussions and formulations to ensure that the psychological needs ofpeople who use the service and their families and carers are fully considered. There will also be opportunities to be involved in service improvements and developments under the guidance of the psychology lead and service manager including audits and evaluations and other quality improvement projects.

Job responsibilities

Job Purpose

The principal purpose ofthe job is to improve the psychological health & wellbeing of people with eating disorders who are referred to the team.

This will be achieved in this post through undertaking the following areas of responsibility:

1. Providing an evidenced based psychological therapy service to people with moderate-severe eating disorders

2. To provide local clinical leadership, co-ordination and supervision for trainees and volunteers employed by or attached to the team, under the general direction and supervision of the Professional Lead

3. Contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions and formulations to ensure that the psychological needs of people referred to the service are fully considered.

4. The post holder will be supported by senior colleagues within their specialist field. The post holder will be expected to make good use of the expertise of others within the service to further develop their clinical skills with this client group.

5. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/local team.

6. The post holder will receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance to Trust policy and to Professional Practice Guidelines set out by the BPS or appropriate designated Professional Body.

Assessment and Intervention :To provide expert psychological therapies, developing specialist psychological formulations and assessments of clients, formulating plans for their psychological treatment and implementing specialist psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, and to demonstrate awareness of diversity issues.

Consultation & guidance: To provide advice, guidance and consultation on psychological aspects of patient care to colleagues, other service providers, patients, supporters and families
