As a Cloud Engineer within our platform team, you will design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure using infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep). You will be responsible for ensuring infrastructure aligns with the Well-Architected Framework (AWS & Azure), incorporating best practices for reliability, security, cost-efficiency, and performance. You will operate and manage Kubernetes clusters (EKS, AKS), including upgrades, configuration, networking, and security, as well as host and maintain internal developer tooling and shared services within Kubernetes or cloud-native environments.
Responsibilities
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cloud services, infrastructure, and networking.
- Knowledge of and experience applying the AWS and Azure Well-Architected Framework in real-world infrastructure design.
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, Helm).
- Expertise in Kubernetes (EKS, AKS), including deployment management, RBAC, networking, and autoscaling.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with various levels of stakeholders.
Through collaboration, passion and hiring the smartest minds, our Technology team builds products and services that are used by 38,000 of us at Whitbread and millions of guests. Everything from an eCommerce website that handles £2 billion in transactions per year, applications that are scalable across our 1,200 hotel and restaurants, devices that enable our teams and guests to have a seamless experience, all whilst keeping data secure. Together we're building the hotel of the future.
Commitment to Inclusion

We are committed to being an inclusive organisation that values diversity and welcomes your application whatever your background or situation. Under-represented groups such as women, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities & members of the LGBTQIA+ community (those who identify as lesbian, gay, bi, trans and non-binary or those who use a different LGBTQIA+ term), are strongly encouraged to build a career with us.
