Overview

Sysco are currently recruiting for a Cloud Engineer to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement with a blend of home-working; you must be comfortable with travel and commuting to the Ashford head office and other offices as needed (approximately 3 times per week).

Responsibilities

  • Azure cloud platform management, providing mentorship and guidance to team members.
  • Design, implement, and manage highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure on the Azure platform.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and application teams to understand business requirements, translate them into cloud architecture designs, and provide operational support to application teams.
  • Develop and maintain cloud migration strategies, including assessing existing systems, identifying gaps, and recommending remediation plans.
  • Ensure the security, availability, and performance of Azure resources through proper design and configuration.
  • Implement and optimize cloud-based solutions, including virtual networks, storage, compute resources, and identity management.
  • Define and enforce cloud governance policies, including resource tagging, access controls, and cost management.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to Azure infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Azure and cloud computing technologies, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and security specialists, to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Work with DevOps and IaC tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and Kubernetes.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of Sysco’s infrastructure, data, applications, and configurations.
  • Contribute to cloud adoption and migration strategies for the organization.
  • Design and develop scripts for automation where appropriate.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have extensive knowledge of Azure infrastructure, services, and offerings, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Networking, and Azure Active Directory. You will have a track record of architecting, designing, implementing, and managing systems and infrastructure in a cloud computing environment, including multi-cloud hybrid architectures. You will be certified in Microsoft Azure Administrator or Architect Expert level. You will have a solid understanding of different cloud environments and applications, including hybrid scenarios, cost optimization, scaling, security, and compliance. You will also have knowledge of cloud security controls including conditional access policies, tenant isolation, encryption at rest and in transit, key management, federated authentication, vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, and SIEM.
