Overview
Commercial Events Manager (Courses and Experiences) at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The role supports the Commercial Events team in delivering and developing a wide programme of events including Kew’s Short Courses programme, Membership Events, and Tours and Experiences. These strands are central to Kew’s income-generation strategy and growth targets, with the aim of expanding volume, reach, and commercial impact to increase self-generated income in support of the organisation’s mission.
As the Commercial Events Manager (Courses and Experiences) you will oversee and strategically develop three strands—Short Courses, Membership Events, and Tours and Experiences—ensuring they evolve cohesively and complement one another in content and commercial viability.
Responsibilities
- Support the research and development of new events and help maximise profitability, sustainability, and quality of each event through effective management and procurement.
- Scope and create unique events in unique spaces, assisting from concept to delivery.
- Lead the development of the strands into two new venues in Kew, in coordination with the Events Co-ordinator, Senior Commercial Events Manager, and Head of Commercial Events.
- Engage with colleagues, stakeholders and external event partners at all levels with confidentiality and persuasive communication.
- Possess strong commercial acumen with proven experience in the events industry and a clear understanding of designing and delivering commercially successful programmes.
- Develop, programme, and manage annual event or course programmes with a focus on reaching diverse audiences and achieving strategic and commercial targets.
- Work weekends and afterhours at live events to assist in setup and delivery.
- Require excellent IT and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong commercial acumen with proven experience in the events industry and a track record of delivering commercially successful programmes.
- Experience in developing, programming, and managing annual event or course programmes.
- Ability to engage diverse audiences and meet strategic and commercial targets.
- Excellent IT and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
- Capacity to work in a team, with attention to detail and a passion for the events industry and Kew’s mission.
Details
- Salary: £33,526 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
- Location: Based at Kew Gardens with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.
