We are looking for a Commercial Lawyer to join our award-winning Legal, Compliance and Data Protection Team (LCDP) on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role can be based in Solihull or Nottingham and offers flexible hybrid working.

Overview

Overview: The role provides in-house legal support focused on infrastructure and commercial energy solutions within E.ON’s Energy Infrastructure Solutions and Industrial & Commercial business areas. You will work on high-profile sustainable energy projects and help deliver innovative, low-carbon energy solutions across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house legal advice across E.ON’s business, focusing on infrastructure and commercial energy solutions.
  • Support the development and delivery of energy infrastructure projects, including on-site and off-site solar PV, wind, heat pumps, and heat networks.
  • Advise on all aspects of project development, sales, procurement, construction, and operation.
  • Draft and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, such as ESCOs, private wire, waste heat off-take, and energy supply contracts.
  • Advise on complex energy supply agreements, metering and data contracts, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and regulatory developments.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders, product teams, and business units to enable innovation, customer value, and operational excellence.
  • Manage legal risk effectively while supporting the delivery of sustainable growth.

What We Need From You

  • You’re a UK-qualified solicitor or barrister.
  • You have relevant experience advising on construction and/or complex commercial contracts.
  • You bring strong business acumen and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • You’re confident working independently, but equally value collaboration and teamwork.
  • You can work flexibly and remain resilient in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • You have excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the business.
  • You have excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the energy industry, or within a regulated or in-house environment.
  • Familiarity with energy infrastructure projects, energy supply contracts, or PPAs — but if not, we’ll support you to learn.
