Overview

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Officer to join us. Working with the Commercial team within our Aerospace line of business, where your contribution will ensure the best commercial outcomes for the Customer and the business whilst contributing to the support of the Australian Defence Forces. This opportunity is available at our Williamtown NSW office and open to hybrid work, flexibility and 9 day fortnight.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support to all contract activity including the drafting and negotiation of complex terms and conditions and associated agreements with customers ensuring the interests of BAE Systems Australia
  • Managing end to end contract activities including negotiating contract changes, customer correspondence and managing claims, with minimal supervision
  • Provide specialist commercial advice to Project Managers and the wider business
  • Building and maintaining both internal and external customer stakeholder relationships
  • Supporting all Contract and Bid Status Reviews
  • Drafting moderately complex contracts / agreements with little supervision
  • Ensuring that the businesses financial and commercial exposures are addressed through appropriate commercial contract frameworks such as export controls, finance, product safety (including insurance) and intellectual property rights
  • Relevant experience that has provided you with a good understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Senior Commercial Officer
  • Team orientation with a high level of written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders of all levels and from a range of disciplines
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Flexible with a lean in approach
  • A curious mind-set
  • An ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision and guidance and using your own experience, judgement and initiative
  • Adept at building and maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Computer literacy, with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite. Familiarity with tools like SharePoint and Oracle is desirable
  • Ability to hold and maintain Defence Security Clearance
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role
