Job Title: Commissioning Officer

Pay rate: £18.72 per hour PAYE
Role length: Anticipated 3 months
Working arrangements: Hybrid - minimum requirement to be in the office one day per week, and this tends to be on a Thursday
DBS requirement: Enhanced DBS is required
The role: We are looking for a Commissioning Officer to complete the commissioning cycle for all children’s commissioned homes. This includes everything from brokerage and establishing new contracts to ongoing contract monitoring, ensuring value for money and delivering positive outcomes for children. A background in commissioning, social care, contract management, or public sector services would be ideal for this role.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with social work teams in respect to home finding
- Identify suitable homes and support for all Children in Care when needed, including Foster Homes, Residential Homes, Parent and Child Residential homes, Supported Accommodation, and post 18 accommodation
- Record information with respect to brokerage/contract monitoring in a clear way, and in accordance with GDPR/Data Protection
- Set up contracts with providers, and Individual Placement Agreements
- Ensure that case recordings for all home finding searches are kept accurate and up to date
- For contract monitoring, attend any stability meetings where there are issues pertaining to stability at home for any young person
- For contract monitoring, ensure that all stability meetings, e mails, contract change requests are recorded in line with recording expectations
- Work alongside admin colleagues to ensure that all new contracts, and changes to existing contracts can be updated and recorded on the relevant tracker
- Undertake visits to providers where necessary, and if needed
- Ensure trackers and spreadsheets are kept up to date to monitor workflows and track progress
What the client is looking for

- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy in children’s services
- Experience working in or with local authorities, care providers, or commissioning teams
- Resilience and emotional intelligence
- Excellent communication skills
