Communications Consultant – 18 Month FTC, Full-time, 37 hours per week, salary £34,525–£43,156, location Hanningfield, Chelmsford, Essex. Flexible working options available.

About The Role

We’re expanding our Corporate Communications team and are looking for an experienced Communications Consultant to actively support and advise the capital projects team as we deliver a transformative asset investment programme. Your role will protect and enhance the company’s reputation throughout every phase of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies that connect with a variety of audiences both internal and external.
  • Engage local communities near construction projects, political stakeholders, local authorities, media contacts, colleagues, partners and delivery teams.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, delivery partners and customer care to ensure communication is clear, timely and aligned with project objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance, constructive challenges and manage communication in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Maximise the use of various channels to reach the right people at the right time, using creative storytelling.

About You

  • Proven experience in communications, ideally within or supporting construction, infrastructure or similar industries.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with key regional stakeholders (local councillors, MPs) and local media outlets.
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to adapt style for different audiences and platforms.
  • Creative photography and short video production for social media.
  • Resourceful, resilient and able to manage multiple projects under pressure.
  • Full UK driving licence; DBS may be required prior to employment.
