Our Opportunity


We are looking for a Configuration and Data Manager to join the Thales Training & Simulation (T&S) engineering team. The T&S team provides highly effective simulations and training services to help customers perform complex tasks in demanding environments.


You will work with a team of engineers focused on the development, delivery and support of products and programmes for a wide variety of customers:



  • Land Forces, Air & Space Forces, Naval Forces

  • Law enforcement and border security organisations

  • Commercial operators of helicopters and operators of critical national infrastructure



Key tasks / Responsibilities



  • Coordinate all Configuration Management activities within projects in collaboration with Project Managers, Product/ System Engineering Delivery Managers, Work Package Managers, and other Configuration Managers.

  • Organise CM activities and interface with Project Managers on planning and management aspects, ensuring:

  • Adaptation of the CM system to contractual requirements and compliance with FLX CM requirements;

  • Consistency and completeness of project information in the PLM;

  • Establish and implement the CM Plan;

  • Specify CM requirements to subcontractors and suppliers via statements of work;

  • Participate in selection of configuration items and establishment of breakdown structures;

  • Lead and control the Configuration Control Board (internal and external) and related activities;

  • Establish configuration baselines (FBL, ABL, PBL, and others as needed);

  • Record and restitution of configuration status; participate in end-of-phase reviews (SFR, PDR, CDR);

  • Perform configuration verifications and participate in Functional and Physical CM audits;

  • Raise awareness and share best practices in CM; support analysis of contractual requirements and bid-phase CM quotations.



About You



  • Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent) with proven CM experience.

  • Experience in integrated teams combining developments and off-the-shelf solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of system integration principles (system, hardware and software).

  • Experience with PLM tools (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter) and CM systems; ability to adapt CM to contractual and commercial requirements.

  • Ability to manage complexity, thrive in changing environments and manage changes.

  • Knowledge of hardware and software CM practices and tools; ability to create buy-in and collaborate effectively.

  • Pragmatic, committed and rigorous approach with strong problem-solving skills.



Desirable



  • Previous CM experience in defence or avionics organisations.



Security Clearance


Some roles require security restrictions. This role requires you to be a sole British National from birth and to achieve Security Clearance (SC). If not already held, the successful applicant will need to obtain and maintain SC before employment. Residents of the UK for the last 5 years are generally eligible; in some circumstances, 3 years of residence may be accepted with additional checks.
