Interviews will be held face to face in Stoke.About The Role (External)You will be part of a team of engineers with responsibility for the integration of new telecoms equipment into the operational railway. Based from either Stoke or Manchester offices with hybrid working, you will remotely configure new equipment on the railway and provision new services. This role may support a major re-signalling renewal or a local enhancement. You will help to enhance and maintain the railway infrastructure and provide a network to allow trains to run safely and efficiently.Using network element management and asset management interfaces, you will remotely configure network equipment and customer services as designed and to agreed standards. This includes cooperation with site technicians and project commissioning staff as required.What will you be doing?Review design information for new equipment and services to ensure it adheres to agreed standardsPlan and prepare work for efficient and cost-effective implementationProcess provisioning and configuration requirements, including moves and changesUse network management platforms and asset databases to integrate new assets and build new customer circuitsWork with principal contract staff to plan and prepare integration of new assetsCollaborate with scheme design engineers to resolve design issues identified during integrationHandover all new equipment to asset owners for monitoring to commenceCo-operate with site technicians as necessaryCoordinate with other work groups to undertake Planned Works requests for circuit provisioning and equipment integrationMaintain and update asset inventories accurately, including circuit and trial provisioning databasesComplete all work to customer satisfaction, including in-service and due date confirmationMeet the essential criteriaRelevant experience in configuring SDH and PDH devicesPrevious railways telecoms/signalling experience preferredTelecoms qualification or Cisco CCNA qualificationPrevious Alcatel (PDH & SDH), Cramer and Cisco experience preferredIdeal candidate: Experience configuring Cisco routers and switches.How To Apply (External)Vacancy type: Permanent, 35 hours per week, Hybrid working of 3 days in the office.
