Overview

As a Configuration Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll play a key role in delivering configuration management solutions for in-service Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary surface ships, directly supporting the Ministry of Defence. Your work will ensure the integrity, traceability, and operational readiness of critical maritime defence assets across the UK's naval fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and update configuration data from drawings, specs, and design docs to maintain SSDD.
  • Support configuration audits through ship visits.
  • Prepare process documents and stakeholder reports as needed.
  • Attend internal meetings to discuss configuration issues.
  • Follow project procedures and quality plans, identifying improvements and resolving issues.
  • This role is full time and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite.
  • Engineering experience with an understanding of support activities in maritime environments.
  • Ability to interpret and present technical data issues clearly within internal teams.
  • Skilled in reading and analysing technical drawings and documentation.
  • Excellent IT proficiency and high attention to detail for accurate data entry.
  • Physically capable of working onboard naval vessels as required by the role.

Qualifications

  • ONC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, demonstrating foundational technical knowledge and academic achievement.
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
