Job Purpose:
The Construction Delivery Manager supports field activities related to the construction of a designated section of the works and its onsite facilitation. This includes the installation of pressurized rotating equipment during mechanical erection, from civil handover to commissioning start. The role involves daily onsite supervision and direction of the works to ensure safety and efficiency.
Operating Environment:
Hinkley Point C is a nuclear site in West Somerset, 15 miles from Bridgwater. The project involves building two major EPR nuclear plants. The Construction Delivery Manager will be part of the HPC site construction team, with experience in delivering projects safely, on time, and to quality standards being essential.
The role involves supporting the Construction Delivery Lead in mechanical equipment installation, mainly pressurized rotating machines, with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance. Responsibilities include logistics planning, programming, monitoring, and liaising with authorities and clients.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Support contract partners in delivering their work packages efficiently.
- Recommend and implement safety and quality measures, including document review and assurance audits.
- Record and report onsite work findings, escalating issues as needed.
- Coordinate with site functions and other managers, maintaining good communication and attending pre-start briefings.
- Participate in technical meetings, ensuring outputs are documented and communicated.
- Conduct safety and assurance inspections supporting HSPI objectives.
- Maintain clear communication with the Construction Delivery Lead regarding activities and issues.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Experience in project delivery, construction sequencing, recovery plans, and resource management.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations obligations.
- Experience with shaft alignment and concentricity.
- Mechanical assembly/disassembly under pressure (e.g., centrifugal pumps, industrial gearboxes).
- Ability to produce clear, concise reports.
- Leadership skills to motivate contract partners.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams.
- Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- SMSTS or IOSH qualification.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
