Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics with Special Interest in Revision Surgery

We invite you to apply for the full‑time Consultant in Orthopaedics with a Special Interest in lower limb revision surgery. This is a replacement post and will operate under a new consultant contract with a basic commitment of 10 PAs and a 1:14 on‑call general orthopaedic trauma rota.

Responsibilities

• Provide a sub‑speciality lower limb orthopaedic service to complement the interests of the other consultants and meet the Trust’s strategic direction.
• Cover elective orthopaedic clinics in Pilgrim Hospital.
• Participate in consultant on‑call rota for emergency duties and provide prospective emergency cover.
• Carry out teaching duties as required and take an active part in the postgraduate medical education programme, including teaching junior medical staff, nursing staff, Advanced Care Practitioners, GPs and other clinical professionals.
• Have responsibility for patients in your care.
• Take part in departmental regional and national audit programmes.
• Be involved in research, where appropriate.
• Participate in the management of the Trauma and Orthopaedic service, supporting team‑working especially in trauma management.

Qualifications and Commitments

The successful candidate must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and ideally have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Orthopaedic Surgery or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.

Applicants unable to work full time may be considered on a personal basis, subject to modification of duties with the Trust and consultant colleagues.

Your role will support a strong teaching commitment, clinical management and effective team working.
