Consultant Mechanical Engineer (Hydrostatic Control)

Our client, a global manufacturing company, is seeking a Consultant Mechanical Engineer (Hydrostatic Control) to join their team. This is a permanent role with a salary of up to £61,900 per annum.

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Frimley, Filton, or Manchester

Working Arrangements: Mostly remote, with 2 days every 2 weeks on-site and as required.

Salary: Up to £61,967 + 10% Bonus

Responsibilities:

  1. Capture and approve functional requirements for Hydrostatic Control in line with company and programme processes.
  2. Design and deliver a coherent functional design for Hydrostatic Control and wider AVCS, covering mechanical systems, C&I equipment, HMI, and software.
  3. Define test objectives, scenarios, and sea trials for V&V of the design and integrated system, focusing on system performance and operator use.
  4. Provide technical specialist input, reviews, and support for projects beyond immediate scope.
  5. Manage stakeholder engagement throughout the design process to ensure solutions meet Royal Navy requirements.

Required Skills and Experience:

  1. Extensive knowledge of Active Vehicle Control System functionality.
  2. Understanding of complex control systems.
  3. Knowledge of hydrostatic control systems such as trim, compensation, hover, and their operation.
  4. Experience applying systems engineering principles.
  5. Relevant STEM degree or equivalent experience.
  6. CEng status or working towards it in a relevant subject.
