Overview
Beth Wright is a content editor for National Farmers Union (NFU) publications. Beth also edits the ‘Student Farmer’ magazine.
Responsibilities
- Edit NFU publications and the Student Farmer magazine.
- Collaborate with teams in the communications department and with external stakeholders as needed.
- Support story development, editing, and proofreading to maintain high editorial standards.
- Coordinate with the team using Teams for messaging and video calls; participate in the daily 10am department meeting to discuss daily plans.
- Work with flexible arrangements depending on office or remote settings, and cover events or meetings outside regular hours when required (time in lieu may be available).
Qualifications
- Degree in English Language and Literature.
- Diploma in Journalism (Level 5).
- Experience in journalism or editorial roles, with a track record of writing and editing content.
Working environment
Working in the office with a team of about 30 in the communications department, the environment is more formal, while remote work allows for focused writing in silence. In-office days foster idea sharing and relationship-building; home days can be productive for writing.
Beth uses a laptop and PC monitor and communicates with the team via Teams. The office schedule is typically 8:30am–4:30pm; home schedule is 9:00am–5:00pm. Journalists may work outside these hours to cover events, with time in lieu as applicable.
