Content Insights Analyst
We are seeking a Content Insights Analyst to deliver insights on content performance wherever it is made available. Embedded within the content insights team, the analyst plays a crucial role in shaping the business’s understanding of content performance, developing and maximising the benefit of our insights and available data to monitor evolving viewer behaviours and identify opportunities in an exciting and increasingly complex media landscape.
Supported by a flexible, dynamic team with wide ranging experience in broadcast and VOD, you will partner with business leaders and key stakeholders to understand their challenges and identify and answer the “big questions". You will learn from and work closely with the Lead Analyst, Insight Managers, Data Scientists and Data Engineers to innovate, inform and impact decision-making. You will build on your strengths and sharpen your skills to create outcome-focused insight for the content commissioning and editorial teams and wider business while thinking critically and collaboratively to build relationships and create recommendations that balance the requirements of your clients with ITV’s wider strategic objectives.
The team
ITV is on a mission to Supercharge Streaming and Optimise Broadcast with data and insight right at the centre of our digital transformation strategy. The business faces many challenges ahead to achieve this vision: What content should we commission? Which audiences are the most commercially attractive for us? What should our marketing strategy be? How do we optimise our product to improve view through rates? How do we use VOD to offset declines to Linear? Whatever the question, the ITV Insights Group is here to lead the business to its most successful future by putting insight, powered by research and data, at the heart of every key decision.
Responsibilities:
- Provision of accurate and insightful analysis on how our viewers engage with the nation's best-loved and most-watched content, wherever they watch it (including but not limited to Broadcast, VOD, Youtube etc).
- Communicating insight to stakeholders from drama commissioners and TV schedulers to digital optimisation and data product teams in a strategically-minded and impactful manner.
- Supporting the analytics lead and senior analyst in development of new tools and methodologies to answer business questions, capitalising on ITV’s AI and ML capabilities.
- Drive business value by using dashboards and established methodologies to provide insight on our content and viewers, and to understand user journeys.
- Promoting and embedding data tools and innovative approaches within the content space to drive growth and value across the streaming and broadcast businesses.
- Building relationships with stakeholders and helping embed new methodologies and ways of working in decision making processes, enabling a culture of self-service analytics.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts across a range of disciplines, including Insight Managers, Data Scientists, Analysts and Data stakeholders to drive projects forward.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Experience analysing and extracting insights from complex datasets.
- An understanding of the media landscape and a love of content.
- An understanding of viewing measurement across platforms. Barb experience is preferable.
- Comfortable with data visualisation and presentation tools.
- Strong presenting and communication skills. Able to talk engagingly about content, translating data into stories.
- Understanding of analytical techniques and comfort with statistical concepts.
- Experience identifying stakeholder needs and proactively finding ways to deliver them in a complex organisation.
- Good understanding of the full range of ITV’s programming and its place in the global media landscape.
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- Experience using SQL to analyse large datasets.
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Google BigQuery.
- A keen problem solver who can demonstrate critical thinking
- Ability to work in a collaborative and cross-functional environment
- Excellent attention to detail and proactive in preventing errors
- Passionate viewer of content in all its forms.
