An opportunity to take on a senior contracts position within the Energy division of a well-established engineering services provider, supporting a diverse portfolio of oil, gas, and renewable energy projects. Based in Westhill with hybrid working (three days in the office, two from home), you’ll be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a wide variety of customer and subcontractor agreements. The role involves close collaboration with commercial, legal, and operational teams and plays a key part in ensuring robust contract governance across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing, negotiating, and managing all customer and associated contracts across the division.
- Supporting the development of contracts expertise by contributing to the training of sales, tendering, and commercial teams.
- Ensuring adherence to tendering and contract management processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending changes where appropriate.
- Collaborating with internal legal, insurance, and tax specialists to agree suitable terms for contracts and legal agreements, mitigating risk and ensuring compliance with internal policies.
- Assisting with the placement of any required contract insurances.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks in partnership with sales, tendering, and commercial teams, ensuring appropriate caveats and contingencies are applied.
- Negotiating and formalising back-to-back terms and framework agreements with subcontractors.
- Contributing to formal contract reviews and project kick-off meetings, ensuring operational teams understand the legal and commercial obligations of head contracts and key subcontracts.
- Providing post-contract legal and commercial advice, including the management of contract variations and associated documentation.
- Maintaining a register of liabilities, including NDAs, bonds, guarantees, and warranties.
About You:
- Experience in the oil and gas and/or renewables industry is required.
- Strong knowledge of standard industry contracts such as LOGIC, FIDIC, and NEC.
- Proven track record in reviewing and negotiating contractual terms and conditions.
- Skilled in delivering commercially focused, pragmatic advice.
- Confident decision-maker with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to clearly communicate complex contractual matters to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with key requirements.
