HOURS: 35 hours, full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

The Group Leadership Communications team develop and manage executive internal and external communications for the Group’s Chief Executive and our Group Chair. The team identify and shape opportunities to connect the CEO and Chair’s leadership of our strategy and purpose with different audiences, via tailored messages and activity.
For a corporate communications manager, this role is an exciting opportunity to learn about and interpret a broad spectrum of business activity and community engagement, in order to help research and write high-quality briefings, speaker points and other messaging.
The role reports into the Head of Group Leadership Communications, and will play an important role in the planning, research and written output of the team. We are looking for a supportive team player with strong verbal and written communication skills, and clear commitment to understanding and advocating our Group’s purpose: helping Britain prosper.
What will I be doing?
Works closely with colleagues and subject-matter experts across the business and externally, to source key information, verify facts, and craft concise and accurate briefings.
Has strong writing experience and storytelling skills to create briefings and draft a range of messaging, quotes, speaking points, for a range of channels and audiences, with oversight from the Head of Leadership Communications and other GCA leaders.
Makes every effort to understand complex and sometimes technical activity, in order to represent it in simple, accurate and compelling language.
Supports a range of communication event activity for the CEO and Chair, including and not limited to: colleague townhalls, regional visits, financial calendar, offsites and roundtables.
Supports the development of the CEO and Chair’s communication plans and engagement activity, by maintaining team planning documents and cultivating strong internal and external opportunities.
Works closely with Media, Internal, Policy and Reputation teams in GCA in order to help enhance the profile and reputation of the CEO and Chair, through considered and authentic communication.
Applies a learning approach, curiosity and initiative in all areas of work, in order to build strong relationships across the business and externally.
What you’ll need
Is proficient in writing, editing and fact-checking clear briefings which distil the key messages.
Is able to craft short messages in a leader’s voice, which have the ability to engage, inform and inspire different audiences.
Works at pace with excellent attention to detail and good judgement, demonstrating high-standards of confidentiality, sensitivity and professionalism.
Is proactive in researching and learning about new and evolving areas of business or community activity, to inform briefings and messaging.
Is proactive and energetic in originating communication ideas, and diligently developing well-thought through and collaborative activity.
Is an excellent, all-round communicator, with strong EQ in stakeholder management and partnering skills. Adept in recommending and advocating the team’s priorities, whilst building trust and understanding across different stakeholders.
Is experienced in building networks internally and externally to provide a useful range of insight and perspective.
Has a good understanding of the audience, priorities and macro-environment for financial services, and draws on this to prioritise and shape messages for our customers, communities and colleagues; reinforcing the Group’s purpose of helping Britain prosper.
Has a strong willingness to learn, network and collaborate with teams across GCA and the wider business.
