Overview Join to apply for the Specialty Claims Associate role at HSB | UK and Ireland. Location: Birkenhead or Manchester (2 days per week in the office). Contract: Permanent. Role Credit Controller Role Purpose As part of the Credit Management team, you will be responsible for managing an aged debt ledger which involves communication at all levels, both verbally and in writing. The role requires you to remain calm under pressure, be assertive, and have good numeric skills with the ability to explain financial matters clearly. You will be responsible for recovering unpaid money from brokers and clients and proactively dealing with disputes as they arise. To maximise the collection of debt and ensure remedial solutions are provided to reduce aged debt, with a focus on reducing overdue debt (>1 day) to support cash flow targets. Key Responsibilities
Debit management and collection of broker/client accounts. Provide updates on account performance and regular updates on issues and sales ledger performance, including action plans for difficult/doubtful debts. Monitor cash allocation and propose corrective action on unallocated accounts. Transactional and Bordereau account reconciliations. Manage a high-level workload and support department with ad hoc activities/projects. Ensure queries are managed daily and resolved within agreed timeframes. Interact with Intermediaries regarding credit risk tracking where required. General administrative duties within the Credit Management team. Develop effective regular communication links with stakeholders. Ensure correct procedures and processes are in place and continually reviewed. Own Credit Control activity, ensuring processes are followed in a timely way with actions recorded. Escalate serious issues to the Collections Manager for review. Maintain close working relationships with other internal departments. Daily maintenance and management of departmental emails and system-generated tasks.
Key Skills & Experience Essential
Excellent organisational skills. Experience working in a finance environment. Proactive, flexible and customer-focused. Good MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, basic pivot tables). Good spoken and written communication skills. Attention to detail, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
Desirable
Understanding of FCA guidelines. Experience within collections & receivables or office administration.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements
At least 3 years’ experience within collections and credit control.
