A leading service provider is seeking a Credit Controller to join their vibrant Manchester City Centre office on a 6‑month contract. This role offers an exciting blend of office‑based and remote working, with three days in the office and two days from home each week. Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively contact clients by phone and email to ensure timely payments are received according to agreed terms, including courtesy calls to resolve any queries or disputes before invoice due dates.
  • Manage a significant client debtor portfolio encompassing both high volume and value accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately tracked and reconciled.
  • Escalate risks or significant issues to the Credit Control Team Leader with thoughtful suggestions for further action to maintain smooth operations.
  • Analyse and reconcile large volumes of data to identify transactions in query or overdue status, maintaining meticulous records within internal systems.
  • Document all client queries within the system and monitor their progression until resolution is achieved.
  • Build strong relationships with customers to enhance interactions and strengthen long‑term partnerships based on trust and understanding.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues in credit control as well as across the wider finance team to achieve shared objectives.
  • Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure any issues are addressed promptly and efficiently in line with organisational policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in credit control or transferable skills from similar roles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of credit management principles or the ability to quickly absorb new information related to credit control processes.
  • Experience working under pressure while meeting tight deadlines in a busy environment where teamwork is essential.
  • Self‑motivation combined with a flexible approach that allows you to adapt smoothly to changing priorities within the department.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft applications—especially Excel—and familiarity with other back‑office systems relevant to finance operations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting to achieve departmental goals through shared responsibility.
  • Logical thinking skills enabling you to consider all relevant aspects when carrying out basic analysis on financial information.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills for building rapport with clients as well as colleagues across different departments.
