Team Overview: The CloudKDB team is revolutionizing the architecture of our existing market and trade capture system to enable it to scale and ingest an ever-increasing volume of data sets. The team's vision extends beyond data capture, encompassing the development of innovative applications and advanced analytics directly on top of this data.
Development Value: This is an exceptional opportunity to tackle big data challenges at a Terabyte scale, working in close collaboration with business stakeholders to deliver impactful, data-driven solutions. You will be part of a team managing 50+ servers hosting 200+ globally distributed datasets, providing critical insights to over 600 users. Comprehensive training will be provided on the KDB+ database, and you will gain invaluable knowledge of Citi's eTrading business across various asset classes.
Role: This Team Lead role will be instrumental in guiding the CloudKDB team in supporting cross-asset eTrading. Initially, the focus will be on supporting and optimizing the existing system, followed by driving the development of new functionalities to enhance its long-term stability and reliability. As a Team Lead, you will also be responsible for guiding and mentoring team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership:
- Lead the development of the Kdb+ target state architecture in collaboration with senior developers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering their growth and development.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices, maintaining code quality and consistency.
- Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and approaches to solve complex challenges.
- Project Management:
- Document business requirements, propose innovative solutions, and oversee their development.
- Conduct thorough testing to ensure solutions meet defined requirements and performance benchmarks.
- Manage project timelines, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.
- Team Collaboration:
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and open communication.
- Facilitate effective communication between the team and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on goals and progress.
- Proactively identify and address team challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- System Optimization:
- Continually improve the software development lifecycle and the overall quality of the product.
- Provide support to users in accessing and querying data, ensuring a seamless user experience.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Strong understanding of computing fundamentals: concurrency, algorithms, and data structures.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and proactively seek assistance when needed.
- Strong interest in technology and a passion for learning about distributed systems and databases.
- Desire to create systems/programs that deliver exceptional value to users.
- Extensive experience working with KDB+ at an enterprise level or demonstrated expertise in low-latency Java or Python with a strong desire to learn KDB+.
- Proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Strong Linux/bash skills.
- Experience with trading platforms and a solid understanding of financial markets.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience in a similar role.
