The role

We’re seeking a Head of Customer Relations to lead our team of Customer Relations Managers and develop and implement marketing campaigns on behalf of a portfolio of B2B and B2C clients in the construction industry, working with business owners and company directors.

You’ll bridge the gap between our Customer Relations Managers and our Operations/Delivery Teams, ensuring clients are put firmly at the centre of our business.

While having a good understanding of marketing is an advantage, an ability to build strong customer relationships and work under pressure to meet demanding client expectations and deadlines is more important.

This role is split between office-based and travelling across the UK to meet clients.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee the Customer Relations Department, including a team of Customer Relations Managers and any admin/support team.
  • Ensure each team member meets customer expectations both in terms of marketing results and customer experience.
  • Work with the Operations/Delivery teams to help ensure they meet performance levels, delivery times and quality standards.
  • Have regular touch-points with customers, including site visits, to gain feedback and ensure we address any concerns before they become a problem.
  • Provide sufficient support, training and management to enable each Customer Relations Manager to achieve agreed monthly revenue targets and manage conflict/challenges, including paying overdue accounts.
  • Work with the directors to ensure the business meets its monthly business revenue targets, focused on customer retention, on‑boarding new clients and up‑selling/cross‑selling and ultimately growth and profit targets.
  • Work with the directors and management team to improve existing systems and processes and implement new ones as part of our overall growth strategy.
  • Recruit, train and develop new team members as and when required.
  • This is a transitional role where you will also manage a number of key‑clients directly, until such times as the business is achieving its monthly revenue/profit targets.

What You’ll Need;

  • Excellent leadership skills – you’re confident, articulate and professional with clients and team‑members alike.
  • Strong organisational ability – you can juggle tasks and stay on top of deadlines.
  • Ability to handle conflict and work with other department heads to meet client objectives.
  • Commercial mindset – you understand business priorities and how these can change.
  • Problem‑solving attitude – you stay calm under pressure and find solutions.
  • Accountability – you take ownership and don’t hide from tough situations.
  • Good presentation – written, verbal, and in‑person.
  • Positive energy – you’re a team player who brings enthusiasm and ideas.
  • Comfortable with technology and CRM platforms.
  • Full UK Driving License.

Marketing experience is a bonus – but not essential. We’ll provide full training and ongoing support to help you succeed.
