About The Role And The Team
As a business critical role you will support the Head of Security Operations in developing and delivering a programme to improve our security posture and to align with our compliance and regulatory obligations, including Cyber Essentials (CE), National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) Cyber Assessment framework (CAF) and Telecoms Security Regulations (TSR). We are looking for a technical engineer with experience in translating regulatory and customer requirements into BAU behaviors and someone who has strong stakeholder management is also key.
You will work with internal teams to provide technical and tactical advice to many areas of the business (e.g. Procurement, HR, Business Compliance, Architecture, IT Infrastructure and Design) to implement security policies, standards, processes and controls in line with current regulations and security standards.
What will you be doing?
- Work with internal and external teams providing technical and tactical advice and support the implementation of a required governance and control frameworks, including compliance monitoring and assurance
- Develop and deliver technical security standards against compliance framework requirements
- Monitor, Measure and Maintain cyber security technical risks
- Active participation in identifying technical security risks requiring mitigation
- Support Vulnerability Management activities across a broad technology estate (servers, user endpoints, network devices, in-house applications)
- Drive cyber risk remediation activities
- Support Penetration/Security Testing activities and follow-up on resulting remediation tasks
- Willingness to support an out-of-hours on-call rota (non-incident response)
What we are looking for?
- Strong ability to identify technical risk and security compliance opportunities, threats, and vulnerabilities
- Previous experience of Information Security implementation, Information Security Risk Management development or operations
- Proven experience in supporting a Vulnerability Management function
- Hands-on experience with Penetration and Security Testing
- Good knowledge of common technical security misconfigurations, associated risks and effective remediation/mitigation strategies
- Proficient in scripting & query languages (e.g. Python, Bash, PowerShell, SQL)
- Strong understanding of the technologies and architectures used to support information security
- Hold a current UK Security Clearance or be willing to undergo security vetting
