As part of IT Operations, the Cyber Security Engineer (L2) is responsible for supporting Immunocore's cyber security operations and contributing to the implementation and maintenance of security controls and processes. This is a hands‑on technical role, working with Cisco's security suite and other security tools to help protect our digital assets and employees from cyber threats. The role involves monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, assisting with risk assessments, and supporting compliance efforts. The Cyber Security Engineer (L2) will collaborate with other teams to promote security awareness and best practices and will stay informed about current cyber security trends and technologies to help address vulnerabilities and improve Immunocore's security posture. This position will assist in the operation and improvement of our security framework and security management systems in a hybrid environment, including cloud and on‑premises systems. The role requires a passion for technical skills within our Cisco security products and a proactive approach to maintaining and enhancing infrastructure security operations.

Key Responsibilities: Security Operations and Support

  • Monitor and respond to security alerts and incidents, escalating as necessary.
  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of security infrastructure and products across on‑premises, Azure, and AWS environments.
  • Support the implementation of security policies, procedures, and technical controls.
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and risk analysis activities, including addressing and patching.
  • Help maintain and update technical documentation, including system configurations and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to compliance efforts by following established processes and supporting audits as required.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to resolve security‑related technical issues and provide input on security best practices.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve security operations and processes.
  • Stay current with cyber security trends, threats, and technologies relevant to Immunocore's environment.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Revise IT policies and procedures to ensure a strong and compliant security posture.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to robust change‑management processes and contribute to their improvement.
  • Collaborate with the IT Service Desk Manager and team on technical tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in a cyber security or infrastructure engineering role.
  • Cisco certified at a minimum of CCNA or an equivalent security certification.
  • Experience with security infrastructure systems such as endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners, and security tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology as a core component.
