Overview

This position sits within the Enterprise Architecture function and is responsible for shaping and evolving the organisation’s data architecture, models, processes, and standards. The goal is to enable the effective use of data to support strategic business outcomes.

The role involves close collaboration with stakeholders across business units, IT, data governance, compliance, security, and external partners to understand requirements and deliver scalable, secure, and value-driven data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data architecture roadmaps aligned with business strategy.
  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support enterprise-wide data usage.
  • Define and implement data standards, policies, processes, and structures.
  • Simplify and optimise existing data architecture to enable reusable services and cost efficiencies.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies for data collection, analysis, and integration.
  • Support initiatives in master data management (MDM), metadata management, analytics, and data integration.
  • Design governance and compliance frameworks for managing data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory data requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and maturity of architectural artefacts, principles, standards, and documentation.
  • Promote the value of architecture across the organisation through active engagement and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in design authority processes, providing input on solution design and governance.
  • Offer technical guidance and oversight on solution development and integration.
  • Ensure adherence to documented standards and practices.
  • Act as a representative of the architecture function, promoting its value and best practices.
  • Analyse current architecture to identify improvement opportunities and recommend sustainable solutions.
  • Support project teams throughout the delivery lifecycle, from consultation and design to implementation and transition.
  • Proven experience in a Data Architect role.
  • Strong background in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Databricks, Fabric, and Purview.
  • Ability to communicate complex data concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Solid understanding of data management principles and challenges.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or equivalent.
  • Awareness of industry trends, technologies, and vendors.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening and clear written and verbal expression.
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
