OverviewData Privacy and Commercial Lawyer role at Immediate. Part-time, 25 hours per week over 5 days. Salary up to £60,000 (data privacy and commercial focus).Immediate is home to brands such as Radio Times, Good Food and BBC Gardeners World magazine, with content across digital, print, video, podcasts, apps and live events. Our culture aims to inspire, fuel, encourage and educate audiences.About the roleThis role sits within Immediate's legal team. You will bring expertise on data privacy, advising the Legal team and the broader business on data privacy matters across operational systems and commercial work. You will manage and maintain our Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) and ensure impact assessments are performed and recorded. You will advise on contractual data privacy matters and act as the data privacy subject matter expert within the Legal team, collaborating with experienced colleagues.You will also work on commercial matters across Immediate’s media business, engaging with audiences who use our digital, video, audio and print content.You will work in our Hammersmith office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (anchor days). The role covers five weekdays with five hours per day within core hours (9.30am–5.30pm). Occasional UK travel to Bristol, Manchester or Nottingham offices may be required.As a Data Privacy and Commercial Lawyer you willSupport the DPO in ensuring Immediate maintains best practice in data privacy mattersAdvise the business on data risk, privacy and protection matters, including GDPR and PECR compliance across the businessMaintain and develop systems, including keeping the ROPA up to date and preparing impact assessments as neededWork with the business to address data issues from expansion into new jurisdictionsProvide in-house training to commercial teams on regulatory and compliance data issuesSupport and advise on data privacy matters concerning Immediate's consumersLiaise with the parent company's data privacy specialists based in GermanyCollaborate with the Legal team on drafting and negotiating agreements related to data privacyContribute to developing best practices and clear processes and controls for the businessDraft, review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements and partnerships across the Immediate brandsRequirementsQualified lawyer with at least 3 years' PQE in a commercial law firm or fast-paced in-house environmentStrong training background or equivalent experience; track record of academic successSolid understanding of data protection law (GDPR and ePrivacy) and its integration with commercial activitiesSolid understanding of contract law; some IP knowledge desirableStrong drafting, negotiation, communication and relationship skillsTeam player with excellent interpersonal skillsAbility to perform under pressure and manage time effectively, particularly given part-time natureEnthusiasm for the business and its growthBenefitsRelaxed working environment with regular socialsWell-being initiatives, talks & workshops, Mental Health First Aiders & Champions25 days holiday plus a birthday day; Christmas to New Year closure in addition to entitlementMedicash health cash back planEV salary sacrifice schemeTraining and development via in-house platform and LinkedIn LearningFlexible / hybrid working plus early finish FridaysCycle to work schemeEnhanced family policies including paternity, adoption and surrogacy leave, and related supportCompetitive pension plans and life assuranceModern office with collaborative spacesImmediate is an equal opportunities employer.
