Overview
We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our Clinical Practice Research Datalink team in the Safety and Surveillance group. This is a full-time opportunity on a 24-month fixed term/internal move or temporary promotion basis. The role will be based at 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) enhances and improves the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The Safety and Surveillance Group brings together devices and medicines safety expertise with enforcement capabilities, supported by data and evidence generating capabilities and the new Safety Connect System. The CPRD (Clinical Practice Research Datalink), part of the Safety and Surveillance group with support from NIHR, is the UK’s preeminent research service providing access to anonymised NHS data for research.
Responsibilities
- Develop end-to-end Extraction Transform Load (ETL) data processing solutions from data collection through to deployment.
- Maintain and support CPRD's data processing pipelines; ensure data assets are of high quality and accompanied by appropriate metadata.
- Identify optimisations to enable scaling and repeatable use of data, including code modules and tools for data analysis.
- Continuously improve and enhance data models and analytical code.
- Provide quality assurance on data models and analysis outputs.
- Work closely with members across different multi-disciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in computer science, IT, maths, or a related discipline, or equivalent work-related experience.
- Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality data extraction and analysis outcomes.
- Proven ability to use data science to analyse and model data at scale.
- Expertise in using statistical programming tools such as R, Python, and SQL.
- Proven ability to develop processes and tools for modelling and interpreting diverse and complex datasets.
- Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and baseline personnel security standard checks.
Working Arrangements & Diversity
We are implementing a flexible, hybrid working model with a minimum of 4 days per month on site to enable collaboration with partners and stakeholders. Attendance on site is driven by business needs and may range up to 8 days per month, with remaining time remote or in the office. Salary & Benefits
Salary: £44,825 per year, with £12,985 contributed towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Benefits include: 25 days annual leave rising with service, 8 bank holidays, Privilege Leave, 37-hour work week (full time), occupational sick pay, mobility clause in contracts, flexible working, season ticket or bike loan, employee assistance, civil service clubs, safeguarding and development opportunities.
