Data Solution Architect-£125,000-Hybrid
We are seeking an experienced and strategic GCP Data Platform Architect to join as a Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP) within our high-performing data consultancy practice. This is a pivotal role focused on modernising data platforms for Tier-1 banking and financial services clients, driving cloud adoption, innovation, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong balance of technical expertise, pre-sales capability, and client leadership, with a passion for data architecture and a proven ability to engage with C-level stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Technical Leadership
- Define and drive the architecture of large-scale data platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Lead the design and delivery of modern cloud- data solutions including ingestion, transformation, modelling, and analytic layers.
- Shape future-state architectures, modernisation roadmaps, and transformation strategies aligned to client business goals.
- Guide teams through solution delivery, ensuring alignment with architectural principles, governance, and best practices.
- Client Advisory & Pre-Sales
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior client stakeholders and executive sponsors.
- Translate complex business requirements into clear solution blueprints and architectural artefacts.
- Own and contribute to RFP/RFI responses, solution estimation, technical proposals, and pitch presentations.
- Collaborate with internal and external sales teams to drive business development and solution adoption.
- Data Architecture & Governance
- Lead enterprise data modelling and modern ETL/ELT pipeline design on GCP using BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, etc.
- Provide thought leadership across data domains including data warehousing, real-time streaming, and data governance.
- Design and implement governance and metadata strategies using tools like Unity Catalog, Alation, Profisee, and similar.
- Promote data quality, lineage, cataloguing, and compliance across client solutions.
Required Experience & Skills
- Technical Expertise
- 10+ years of experience in BI, data warehousing, and analytics.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in cloud and data architecture.
- Proven delivery of large-scale data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with deep expertise in:
- BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage
- DataOps, CI/CD for data pipelines, and cloud security patterns.
- Strong grounding in enterprise data modelling and data integration patterns (batch, streaming).
- Deep knowledge of ETL/ELT architectures and frameworks using tools such as Cloud Composer, dbt, Apache Beam, or similar.
- Experience with governance, cataloguing, and data quality tools (e.g., Unity Catalog, Alation, Profisee).
- Industry & Functional Knowledge
- Strong domain experience in banking and financial services (retail, investment, or commercial).
- Understanding of regulatory requirements, data privacy (e.g., GDPR, BCBS 239), and operational risk management.
- Consulting & Leadership Skills
- Proven success in pre-sales and RFP/RFI management, including technical writing, solution estimation, and presentation delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical and non-technical teams in a client-facing consulting capacity.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, especially with C-suite and senior executives.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on architecture and delivery oversight.
- Desirable Qualifications
- GCP Professional certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Data Engineer)
- Familiarity with multi-cloud architectures or other platforms (Azure, AWS)
- Experience in Agile delivery environments (e.g., SAFe, Scrum)
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
