Background

For Unilever to remain competitive in the future, the business needs to continue its path to become data intelligent. The dCommerce Analytics Hub is responsible for building data, data science and analytics as a core capability to help the business become data intelligent and drive business and organization performance. The team will deliver advanced products at scale and work closely with the market teams to ensure that decisions in Unilever are augmented with insight and recommendations wherever possible. There are five major themes to the Digital and Technology strategy: Deliver Intelligent systems at scale; Winning disproportionately in the Market; Drive Unilever to assisted and predictive decision-making; Make data a true asset; World-class Information: One Version of the Facts. Continued excellence in the delivery of diagnostics and insights to focus attention when and where it matters with a focus on Big Bets, Strategic Initiatives and Leadership team reporting.

This role is part of the global dCom, which is tasked to deliver maximum value from data to drive business and organization performance within each respective market.

Job Purpose

Job Purpose: Digital and Technology Product Owner in D-commerce is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog for digital products, ensuring they align with business goals and customer needs. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders (across Business Groups and markets), development teams, and UX designers to deliver a high-quality e-commerce experience. The Product Owner acts as the voice of the customer, translating business needs into actionable user stories and driving the product vision forward.

This role seeks an experienced e-commerce analytics professional to help innovate, drive and deploy key analytics capabilities to support our Digital Commerce business stakeholders. You will be expected to drive the following key thrusts:

  • Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and define vision & strategy
  • Build Digital & Technology products for E-commerce, D2C and Social commerce
  • Lead the design, architecture and methodology for capabilities to scale across the globe
  • Deploy D-comm capabilities across Content, Media, Performance & Execution, Digital Shelf etc.
  • Enable business impact and deliver the D-comm impact ambitions
  • Setup regional squads/communities to deliver insights using the products for business actions

You will be the vital link between our business goals, technology teams, and end-users, responsible for defining the product vision, managing the product backlog, and delivering features that drive customer satisfaction, conversion, and revenue growth.

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Develop and articulate a clear product vision and long-term strategy for our D-commerce platform, aligned with overall business objectives and market trends.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer journey mapping to identify new opportunities and user pain points.
  • Define and track KPIs and success metrics to measure product performance and inform strategic decisions.
  • Backlog Management & Prioritization: Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, technical feasibility, and customer impact.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements for the development team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across marketing, sales, operations, and customer service to gather requirements and ensure alignment.
  • Agile Development & Execution: Serve as the primary point of contact for the Agile/Scrum development team, participating in all ceremonies; work with UX/UI designers to create intuitive interfaces; ensure the team understands priorities and remove roadblocks; accept completed user stories against acceptance criteria.
  • Executive Stakeholder Management & Influence: Build relationships with senior leadership, communicate the product vision and progress, and lead cross-functional steering committees to secure buy-in.

All About You

Relevant Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in Digital, Technology or Analytics products
  • 10+ years of experience in eCommerce related roles with Pureplay platforms/retailer, Consumer Goods, Tech platforms or Consulting
  • Direct experience with e-commerce or D-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify Plus, Magento/Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, or a custom-built solution).
  • Proven track record of defining product strategy and successfully launching and scaling large-scale digital products from concept to launch.
  • Exceptional business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with a natural ability to connect customer needs to business outcomes.
  • Superior communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with proven experience influencing C-level stakeholders.

Location

In June 2020 we announced our plan to consolidate a number of Unilever’s offices across the South East of England into a new Unilever campus in Kingston-upon-Thames in or around early 2025. However, on the 08 August 2024 we announced to our existing staff our proposal to retain our central Head Office in London, 100 Victoria Embankment (“100VE”) until our lease expires in 2027. As a result of this new proposal, we will be consulting with our existing staff, and new joiners who join during this period of consultation at 100VE, on the proposal made in August 2024. During consultation we will clarify the future location of each team and function. This means your role will either be based in 100VE until 2027 or in Kingston-Upon-Thames from early 2025. As we are yet to commence consultation on the proposal you agree, until such a time when consultation has concluded, your normal place of work as set out in the enclosed Statement of Terms & Conditions will be 100VE. You agree that on the conclusion of the consultation your place of work will be 100VE or 100VE until early 2025 and then Kingston-upon-Thames ("the locations") and you will be notified of which of the locations will be your place of work after that consultation ends.

Relocation to the UK
