Deputy Head of Financial Planning and Analysis – Birmingham

Sellick Partnership is seeking a Deputy Head of Financial Planning and Analysis for a Public Sector client based in Birmingham.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver monthly Management Accounts.
• Manage Budgeting and Forecasting processes.
• Analyse financial data and generate detailed reports.
• Present financial information to senior stakeholders.
• Deliver the month‑end closedown process, resolving issues promptly.
• Produce monthly income and expenditure variance analysis.
• Support the external audit process with timely and accurate submissions.
• Lead the annual budget setting (c. £335m income) and five‑year forecast including reporting to Finance Committee and Board of Governors.
• Develop and maintain the five‑year forecast model, incorporating balance sheet and cash flow forecasts.
• Review and improve income forecasting (c. £260m) ensuring accuracy.

Person Specification

• Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA).
• Strong communication skills, able to present detailed financial information clearly to non‑financial specialists.
• Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel and experience with finance/accounting systems such as Oracle or other corporate information systems.
