The role

To deputise for the Payroll Manager, working with the supervisor to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of the Payroll Function, meeting all required statutory standards, whilst building and maintaining good internal & external relationships necessary to the role. Manager and mentor the Payroll team and handle complex payroll issues. Support the delivery of key business‑wide and departmental projects, continuously improving processes to enable scalable delivery for growth.

What will make you successful in the role?

  • At least two years Group Payroll management experience in a large complex business with comprehensive legislative and pension compliance experience.
  • Ability to determine the most appropriate method of communicating and implementing changes.
  • Experience of SAP, system maintenance and UAT to ensure payroll system integrity.
  • Demonstrable awareness of the need for trust, discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Relevant payroll qualification, e.g. CIPP.
  • Ideally experience in a shared service centre environment, system transformation, onboarding of new payrolls, working with 3rd party payroll providers, and designing, implementing and operating robust financial controls.
