Deputy Publicity Director (12‑month FTC)At Transworld we publish the UK’s best fiction and non‑fiction. This year we are growing our non‑fiction lineup and need a driven publicity lead to champion brand fiction campaigns.Key ResponsibilitiesLeading launch campaigns for very high‑level titles and managing key author relationshipsRaise the level of campaigns across the listIdentify key consumer media targets to generate word‑of‑mouth and secure multi‑platform coverage across media outletsMaintain relationships with key journalists and media influencersCampaign analysis alongside marketing colleagues to measure effectivenessAuthor / agent care, plus crisis management where appropriateDevelop relationships with external partnersLooking after year‑round brand relationships as applicableWork with Group departments (relevant audience facing colleagues and interest brands) and close collaboration with PRH US where relevantGlobal campaign management including coordinating international press requests for group companiesTeamDeputise for Divisional PR DirectorManage and lead PR centre of excellence, including development of direct reportsMentor and develop publicity talent across teamRegular management catch‑ups with all direct reports examining goals and key other areas such as work/life balance, workload, purpose, recognition, enjoyment, development.Planning workloads and supervising the quality of work delivered by direct reports and ensuring that people managers do the same.Regular catch‑ups with the Publicity Director effectively communicating campaign and personnel updates.Ensuring that all team members have access to training and the support needed for each role and are developed.Ensure budget sheets are updated by the team in a timely manner, that the team work within the budget on each campaign, and depending on division, allocate budget to list (in conjunction with Divisional PR Director)DivisionRead / provide input on acquisitionsWork with Group departments (relevant audience facing colleagues and interest brands) and close collaboration with PRH US where relevantShare resource across teams: mailing lists, databases, cuttings etcEnsure collaboration and integration within the wider comms team on working practices and being audience awareCommunicate effectively with all the departments in house - marketing and publicity, editorial, sales, rights and international colleaguesWork with the team on division‑wide events, showcases, conferencesRepresent the department at a variety of meetings both internal and externalRaising divisions profile internally and externally (publishing industry and beyond)Oversee catalogues and press kits as necessaryEnsure budget sheets are updated by the team and depending on division, allocate budget to list (in conjunction with Divisional PR Director)Represent publicity at pitch meetings and shape pitch documentsWhat You’ll BringEssential CriteriaHandling confidential projects with discretionLeadership skills and a team playerPrevious management experience desirable but not requiredProven track record delivering high profile campaignsExperience working with challenging clients strong influencer with excellent powers of persuasionEstablished media relationships high level networkerExcellent interpersonal communication skillsCalm under pressureConfidence and a positive, resilient disposition with emotional intelligenceSelf‑motivatedAttention to detailAbility to multi‑task, prioritise, problem solve, brainstormCopywriting skillsInitiative to respond to current news storiesPassionate interest in the media and the digital landscapeAble to integrate knowledge of digital marketing landscape with publicity opportunities and maximise sales potentialBehaviours RequiredExcellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of peopleA strong team player with interpersonal sensitivityA creative individual who isn’t afraid to think outside of the boxA passionate and engaging individual who is able to motivate othersApplication InstructionsPlease apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are the right candidate for the role by 11:59pm on 17th September 2025.Salary£65,000 - £70,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.Hybrid WorkingWhile our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important.
